Much like the above customer, this man wanted us to come to his home and help him decide what size of standby generator that he needed. He has a 6,000-square-foot home with a 1,500-gallon underground propane tank installed.
Again, square footage is not the main factor. When trying to choose the right size of model for you, think about what you would want to power if the utility grid went down for several weeks. Would you just want essential electronics and appliances to remain running, or would you want your entire home powered? If you have an average-size home and you just want to power the essentials, you may be fine with an 8kW or 10kW model. The more you want powered, and the higher your home’s power load, the larger you’ll need your generator to be.
